Miguel, whose new album Wildheart released last week, clearly still feels the need to defend his music versus the likes of peers such as Frank Ocean.

Describing his relationship with the singer as "cordial" at best, Miguel told The Sunday Times he "wouldn’t say we were friends," before adding: "To be completely honest — and no disrespect to anyone — I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around."

Specifically addressing past comparisons to Ocean and even The Weeknd, Miguel snidely implied his career could outlast the others. "It's interesting,” he said, "but we’ll see who’s in it for the long haul. It’s like a marathon, you know?"
