AMC's forthcoming The Walking Dead spinoff will be set in California, giving viewers a look at the zombie apocalypse's impact on the West Coast.

TVLine reports the pilot—the network has yet to confirm the project as a full series—will be based in Los Angeles.

AMC president Charlie Collier said earlier this year that "almost from the beginning ... fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world."

The spinoff is expected to be shot in early 2015 with a premiere later in the year.
