Apple Announces iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus

All of the secrecy is finally coming to an end today, as Apple is making a series of announcements at its much-anticipated Cupertino event.

Apple has confirmed the release of the iPhone 6 and a larger iPhone 6 Plus, both being significantly bigger than previous models.

The 6 is 6.9mm (4.7 inches) thin, while the 6 Plus is 7.1mm (5.5 inches) thin. That's still thinner than the iPhone 5s, which is 7.6 mm thin.

As seen in the photos below, the iPhone 6 gains 10 additional hours of audio streaming and one more hour of video streaming, while still offering 10 days of standby time.

The iPhone 6 (16gb) starts at $199 with a two-year contract, while the 64gb will start at $299. 128gb will be $399. The iPhone 6 Plus will be $299, $399 and $499 for those respective sizes.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus ships Sept. 19. Pre-orders begin this Friday, Sept. 12.

Tim Cook also unveiled Apple Pay, a digital payment system that runs on your iPhone. The service doesn't store credit card information but enables for simple digital payments at retail outlets such as Starbucks, Sephora, Macy's, Walgreens, Uber, Groupon, Panera, McDonald's, Target and of course the Apple Store.

Cook then unveiled the Apple Watch, calling it "the next chapter in Apple's story." More details on that here. The device will start at $349 and arrive in early 2015.
