After waiting until about the very last minute of the 11th hour, NBC has opted to cancel Community after five seasons due to poor ratings.

As Variety points out, Sony is likely to shop the comedy to alternative outlets. And these days, one shouldn't rule out players such as Netflix or Amazon.

As of this writing, Parenthood is the only NBC show predicted to have a shot at renewal without a current status update. Early reports suggested if the ensemble show is renewed, it would receive a shortened, final season. The show is currently only 10 episodes from a perfect 100.

The network earlier this week renewed Law & Order: SVU, while leaving the likes of bubble shows Community and Parenthood in limbo.

Earlier on Friday, NBC renewed fellow bubble series Hannibal, which is actually the best performer among the 18-49 demographic in its Friday time slot. The net, however, opted to cancel Revolution, becoming J.J. Abrams' second canceled series in a month's time after Fox scrapped Almost Human.

Meanwhile, as we previously reported, the Peacock has already moved forward ordering new series for next season. Tina Fey's Ellie Kemper-starring Tooken has received a straight-to-series order; the Casey Wilson-starring Marry Me (from the creator of her former comedy Happy Endings) has been picked up, as has political drama State of Affairs, starring Katherine Heigl.

Update: ABC has canceled bubble show Suburgatory. No word on Nashville. The network has also cut newcomer Trophy Wife. Rebel Wilson's Super Fun Night has also been canceled due to ratings, despite having had Modern Family as a lead-in. Freshman comedy Growing Up Fisher has also been canceled.

Update: NBC has canceled another J.J. Abrams series Believe. This brings him from four on-air shows to one, Person of Interest on Fox. NBC's Crisis has also been canceled.

Update: Despite contract holdups for Parenthood (likely pay cuts if the show returns for short final season), NBC has ordered lesbian comedy pilot One Big Happy to series. The show comes from executive producer Ellen DeGeneres and stars Nick Zano and Elisha Cuthbert, both of ABC's defunct Happy Endings.

Update (05.10.14): ABC's newly minted co-chairman/president Ben Sherwood tweeted just after midnight that Nashville has been renewed for a third season.

Update (05.10.14): TBS has renewed Cougar Town for sixth and final season. NBC has canceled Dracula. Meanwhile, all looks well for a final season Parenthood as the network has reportedly reached an agreement with actors.

Update (05.11.14): NBC has confirmed that the upcoming season of Parks and Recreation will be its last. The show does not appear on the network's fall schedule, suggesting it will likely return next spring.

Update (05.11.14): NBC has reached a deal with the cast of Parenthood for a final, 13-episode sixth season. The network brass had previously been trying to wrangle the agreement down to nine episodes. Meanwhile, it's expected the principle actors will receive pay cuts as part of the new contracts.
