The Head and the Heart's Josiah Johnson is stepping away from the band temporarily to focus on "battling addiction," the band has revealed in a statement.

"We value our fans’ support, and in that spirit we wanted you to hear from us first that Josiah will not be joining us on stage this time around," the group said on their website, explaining the singer is "focusing on his recovery" but will help them find a short-term replacement vocalist.

The band currently has a handful of performances scheduled, including Shaky Knees Music Festival in May and a headlining stint at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in August.

A silver lining in the band's announcement is their confirmation they have "been working on a new album," the followup to 2013's Let's Be Still.
