Shooting Reported at Nashville Theater During Screen of 'Mad Max'

Police on Wednesday afternoon responded to a shooting at a movie theater near Nashville, according to a report from to loccal NBC affiliate WSMV.

The incident took place after 1:15 at Carmike 8 Cinemas in Antioch, Tenn, during a screening of Mad Max, police say.

Details of any possible victims or injuries are currently unknown, but nearby businesses were immediately placed on lockdown.

The suspect, a 51-year-old man who allegedly opened fire on police, has been killed according to a subsequent report from Nashville Police Department.

According to law enforcement, the shooter had two backpacks with him, although the contents were not immediately known. Police did confirm he was armed with a gun and a hatchet.
