Community's Joel McHale is the first non-returning actor to join the cast of Fox's upcoming reboot of The X-Files.
In a nod to just how much the world has changed since the show ended 13 years ago, the actor will play Tad O'Malley, a conservative Internet news anchor who somehow becomes an ally for Mulder (David Duchovny).
It's reportedly a guest role in addition to returning stars Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi.
As we previously mentioned, six-episode revival of The X-Files is due to premiere Jan. 24 on Fox.
