With the arrival of her new solo album VENUS only weeks away, singer-songwriter Joy Williams continues to provide insight into her first post-Civil Wars LP, most recently claiming Justin Timberlake's "invisible fingerprints are on this album."

According to the songstress, she met the 20/20 Experience star in 2011 when they were both on David Letterman's Late Show. Timberlake became "a good sounding board," Williams said in an interview this week with Medium's Cuepoint. And he was ultimately the one who introduced her to Matt Morris, co-writer of much of the new album, which he also co-produced.

As she reestablishes herself as a solo act, Williams made clear in the same interview that The Civil Wars will never be resurrected, but some of their songs are being "reimagined" for her own live shows. "Those songs just can’t just sit on the shelf," she said. "It was such a heartbreak not to perform them. Moving on doesn’t mean neglecting my past. It would be a shame to let those songs just fade [away]. I’m too proud of them."

VENUS is out June 30 on sensibility/Columbia.
