Kurt Cobain Documentary to Premiere on HBO in 2015

Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, the first, fully-authorized documentary about the legendary Nirvana singer's life, will premiere next year on HBO, the network revealed on Tuesday morning.

Cobain's daughter Frances Bean Cobain is co-executive producer for the project alongside Larry Mestel, David Byrnes.

Director Brett Morgan said he began working on the doc eight years ago, reviewing over "200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of never-before-seen home movies and over 4000 pages of writings."

The film, which will also receive an international release, arrives more than 20 years after Cobain took his own life at only 27 years old.
