LISTEN: Nickel Creek Confirms New Album with New Song 'Destination'

Marking the band's 25th anniversary, folk trio Nickel Creek has confirmed they're hitting the road once again and releasing a brand new album, their first in nine years.

Revealing the news Monday morning on Twitter, the group announced seven upcoming tour dates, with more to come.

The band is comprised of Chris Thile on mandolin alongside siblings Sara Watkins on violin and guitarist Sean Watkins, with all three on vocals. They have been on hiatus since 2007, following the release of their last record, 2005's Why Should the Fire Die?.

Nickel Creek won the GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 2003, for This Side. Prior to their hiatus, they had shared the stage with Willie Nelson, John Mayer and Fiona Apple, among others.

Sara Watkins has previously recorded and toured with The Decemberists, while Sean is one-half of the duo Fiction Family with Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman.
