Lorde's 'Royals' No. 1 for Eighth Week as 'The Monster' Approaches

Lorde's "Royals" remains atop the charts once again, holding on to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for an eighth consecutive week. But "The Monster" is narrowing that lead.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, "Royals" sold 158,000 copies this past week and is still No. 1 on the Radio Songs charts for a fifth week.

Eminem and Rihanna's "Monster" is steady at No. 2 for a second week after debuting at No. 3 two weeks ago, but it's gaining radio airplay and on-demand streams.

With 243,000 copies sold, "Monster" is narrowing the gap between itself and "Royals." According to Billboard, the former is up 2%, while the latter is down by 7%. It's very possible next week may present a new No. 1 song.
