FX Productions has signed Atlanta creator Donald Glover to an exclusive overall production deal, the network revealed Thursday.

“Donald is a remarkable artist, effortlessly shifting from actor to writer, producer, director and musician to create one amazing project after another,” FXP co-president Nick Grad said at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

As part of the new agreement, Glover will develop television series for FX Networks and other platforms while continuing to executive produce, write, direct and star in Atlanta, which won Best Comedy and Best Comedy Lead Actor (for Glover) at the Golden Globes.

Unfortunately, however, the critically acclaimed comedy won't return for its second season until next year due to Glover's busy schedule, FX confirmed today. The upcoming Star Wars Han Solo movie, in which Glover will play Lando Calrissian, is set to begin shooting later this month.

Grad added: "Atlanta was just the beginning, the breakout comedy of the year and a series revered as much for its originality as its honest look at the experience of being aspiring, young and black in that legendary city. We’re proud to partner with Donald in an overall deal that will allow him to continue turning his creative vision into incredible television.”
