With a new album looming, The Killers on Thursday acknowledged the long-teased record is "taking forever."

The band tweeted a brief video with frontman Brandon Flowers in the studio apparently listening back to new music, presumably from the long-awaited album.

The Killers have been in and out of the studio for the past two years. And while they had previously hoped to have their next record done "at the end of 2016," all signs are pointing to a release later this year. It is one of Variance's 50 Albums to Watch for in 2017.

"I still want to write a masterpiece," Flowers told Variance in 2015, adding: "I truly feel like it’s still in me and in the band to do our best work. I feel like our best days are ahead and our best music has yet to be heard."

This summer will mark five years since the release of their last record, 2012's Battle Born.
