Empire star Taraji P. Henson and the show's writers confirmed on Friday that season two will premiere on Sept. 23.

Fox had previously revealed the hip-hop soap would commence its second season this fall instead of waiting until mid-season like its first edition, but a premiere date hadn't been revealed until today.

As we previously reported, Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz are among those expected to guest star in the upcoming new episodes.
