Sir Sly talks SXSW changes, upcoming music & more

Derrick Weber

Sir Sly made a quick stop in Austin during SXSW, but they made time to chat with Variance before their show for StubHub's showcase.

The popular alternative trio sat down and talked about their recent success on alt radio, sharing their appreciation for fans of the alternative space, who they acknowledged still largely listen to full albums, unlike many pop radio fans, who arguably mostly consume singles.

They talked about their new album, which is largely already finished with about nine songs at least. And they confirmed this new record will be exploring some new territory, while frontman Landon Jacobs promises fans who liked their first two records will find something to like in the new one.

Jacobs also says the band took more initiative this time around, rather than just letting their team handle everything. "We have a story that we'd like to tell," he tells us.
