After weeks of speculation, it appears Katy Perry is moving on to the Super Bowl as next year's halftime performer.
“A deal is being hammered out for Katy to play the Super Bowl,” Page Six reports an insider as saying.
As we previously mentioned, Coldplay and Rihanna had also been contenders to perform Super Bowl XLIX, which will air Feb. 1, 2015, on NBC.
Performing during the Super Bowl halftime show has long been considered a major platform, considering last year's headliner Bruno Mars performed for more than 115 million viewers.
Only this past weekend, Perry seemed to dismiss the idea of playing the Super Bowl, appearing on ESPN's College GameDay saying, “I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl.”
The "This Is How We Do" singer joins the ranks other recent Super Bowl performers such as Beyoncé, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, The Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson.
Now we just keep our fingers crossed that RiFF RAFF comes nowhere near that stage.

The Hollywood Reporter has since confirmed the original report.
