Lecrae Earns First No. 1 Album with 'Anomaly'

Atlanta rapper Lecrae has earned his first No. 1 album this week as Anomaly has debuted atop the Billboard 200.

With 88,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the independent release starts ahead of the likes of Def Jam's Jhené Aiko and Ryan Adams, whose Souled Out and self-titled album sold 70,000 (No. 3) and 45,000 (No. 4), respectively.

As we previously reported, music insiders had suggested last week that Aiko's Souled Out was actually in the running for No. 1 alongside Anomaly.

Having won Best Gospel Album at last year's GRAMMY Awards, this latest LP marks Lecrae's attempt to document his struggles of walking the line between Gospel and secular markets.
