A man was shot and killed backstage following Wiz Khalifa's show in Mountain View, Calif., on Friday night.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, an unidentified 38-year-old man was shot multiple times around 11 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died early Saturday morning.

Police spokeswoman Shino Tanaka said as of Saturday it remains unclear the connection between the shooter and the victim, as well as how the weapon made its way into the venue.

"We don't know that. This is an ongoing investigation," Tanaka said.

Khalifa's new album, Blacc Hollywood, released this past week and he is currently on tour in support of the record.
