Red Hot Chili Peppers Tapped for Appearance with Bruno Mars During Super Bowl

UPDATE: The NFL confirmed on Saturday that RHCP will join Mars during the halftime show as "special guest."

In a fairly odd pairing—albeit not a bad one, Red Hot Chili Peppers are reportedly set to appear with Bruno Mars during next month's Super Bowl in New York.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the rock outfit will join the pop singer at some point during the show, although details were not yet known. The paper did cite that the rock outfit's involvement in the show would "likely broaden the appeal of the halftime show beyond Mars’ fan base and appeal to older viewers."

The Super Bowl is set for Feb. 2, and it's likely other acts will be joining Mars as well.
