BBC Names 'Sound of 2014' Nominees: BANKS, Chance the Rapper, Ella Eyre & More

As the curtains close on 2013, BBC has once again announced its list of 15 nominees for its annual "Sound of" series.

The Sound of 2014 longlist, which has proven to be a fairly accurate bellwether of quick-rising music acts, includes BANKS, Chance the Rapper, Sam Smith, Ella Eyre, Sampha, Nick Mulvey, Royal Blood, Say Lou Lou and more.

In the coming weeks, the list will be narrowed down to a top five, revealed after the first of the year. A winner will be announced on Jan. 10.

2013's winner, HAIM, went on to explode over the course of this past year, further proving the accuracy of the BBC list. But other successful 2013 nominees included AlunaGeorge, Angel Haze, CHVRCHES and The Weeknd. 2012's list included A$AP Rocky, Azealia Banks, Frank Ocean, Michael Kiwanuka and Skrillex.

Past winners include the likes of 50 Cent, Keane, Adele and Ellie Goulding. The full list is compiled by votes from hundreds of British critics, editors and broadcasters.
