Get ready for big changes when Saturday Night Live returns for its 39th season.
While this is one of the biggest overhauls in the show's history, there's some extraordinary talent headed in front of the camera this season. Following previously announced cast members John Milhiser, Kyle Mooney, Noël Wells, Beck Bennett (from the "It's Not Complicated" AT&T commercials) and former SNL writer Mike O'Brien is a sixth newcomer, the young, up-and-coming comedian Brooks Wheelan (seen below).
Additionally, Cecily Strong (pictured left) will join Seth Meyers as "Weekend Update" co-anchor. She has previously made critically acclaimed appearances on the comedic news segment as the Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party.
Strong may eventually take over as solo anchor when Meyers departs for to host Late Night, but executive producer (of SNL and Late Night) Lorne Michaels hopes Meyers might stay on, explaining that the new edition of the weeknight talk show will not air on Fridays, leaving Meyers open if necessary.
Featured player Tim Robinson, who was never a standout on screen, will move behind the camera this season as a writer, Michaels confirmed to the New York Times.
As we previously reported, Tina Fey and Arcade Fire will be the host and musical guest, respectively, when the show returns on Sept. 28.
