'Modern Family' Considering Wedding For Cameron & Mitchell After DOMA Ruling

With Wednesday's Supreme Court ruling, which signaled the demise of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, it appears Modern Family is considering a wedding next season for Cameron and Mitchell.

“It’s certainly something we are contemplating on the show in ways we wouldn’t have in prior seasons,” said executive producer Christopher Lloyd, following the ruling. “As you can imagine in Cam and Mitchell’s life, they would be feeling that a door has opened that was closed to them. Wouldn’t it be pretty tempting to think about walking through it?”

The show has previously discussed the possibility, but Lloyd said the show—which has attracted praise across the political spectrum—has had no interest in appearing to "make an overt political statement," explaining comedy tries to make its storylines organic.
