It appears Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) is literally putting his money where his mouth is and donating to support Black Lives Matter.

Citing two unnamed sources, The Fader reported Wednesday the Toronto singer has donated a hefty $250,000 to the activist organization, which has sought to bring attention to matters of civil rights related to racial profiling, police brutality and racial injustice.

Following the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile last month, Tesfaye took to Twitter to declare: "Enough is enough. It's time to stand up for this. We can either sit and watch, or do something about it. The time is now," he said, with the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter

The news comes just days after Tesfaye donated $50,000 to the University of Toronto to help sponsor an Ethiopian studies program. (His parents migrated from Ethiopia to Canada before he was born.)

Tuesday marked two years since the death of Michael Brown, the black, unarmed 18-year-old who was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.
