MTV on Tuesday announced the nominees for its 2017 Video Music Awards.

Not surprisingly, Kendrick Lamar rightfully leads with eight nods, including one for Video of the Year, for his DAMN. lead single "HUMBLE."

Other big nominees include Chance the Rapper, Lorde, DJ Khaled, Rihanna, The Weeknd, D.R.A.M. Big Sean, Calvin Harris, Alessia Cara and Bruno Mars. In the running for Best  New Artist are Khalid, Kodak Black, SZA, Young M.A, Julia Michaels and Noah Cyrus.

This year's nominations also mark the inclusion of an Artist of the Year category, which replaces the gendered Best Female and Best Male Video awards. There is also a Best Fight Against the System category, recognizing videos which "inspire viewers to stand up and fight injustice," according to a statement by MTV.

The VMAs are set for Aug. 27, airing on MTV.
