Laying low for the past few months has paid off for Lorde, who's already written multiple songs for her sophomore album.

Joel Little, the songwriter-producer behind the New Zealander's debut LP Pure Heroine, said at Wednesday night's ASCAP Pop Music Awards that the duo has "written a couple of songs ... we haven’t done a whole lot of production on it yet. We just want to make sure the songs are really good and try and experiment with some new things—just different beats and whatever occurs in the studio.”

It's unlikely the "Royals" singer will finish the album this year, as she isn't working on any particular deadline. But perhaps we shouldn't rule out a new single.
