Songza is no longer simply relying on you to tell it you're having a sweaty dance party. Thanks to a new partnership with The Weather Channel, the playlist-savvy app will know if you're sweating from the sun or singing in the rain and can now recommend music selections based on that information.
Already an ace at offering the perfect music options for your mood or current activity, Songza announced this week it is starting to leverage actual weather data to better soundtrack users' lives. In addition to its usual suggestions (i.e. Brand New Music, Working Out, Looking at Pictures of Your Ex), it may recommend songs for the thunderstorm or snowy morning.
“With new data provided by The Weather Channel, we can more accurately predict your context, helping you enjoy more sunsets and weather more storms,” said Songza CEO and cofounder Elias Roman in a statement.
The new feature is currently starting to roll out for most users.
