Before he releases his new single "Politicians" this Friday, Australian singer Hayden Calnin is offering an early listen.

The powerful new track, reflective of frustration with the state of the western political system, is premiering today on Variance. It's officially out on June 25, serving as a preview of Calnin's upcoming album What It Means to Be Human, which is coming on Sept. 10.

"As the title suggests, this is a song about the leaders of the world; a note of reflection on it and a f**ck you, if you will," he says of the cut. "The state of politics in the western world, the one I know, feels more like a sporting competition than a representation of the people. I’m not sure if this has always been the case or if I’m just noticing it more now that I’m a little older but one thing I do know is that I’m not alone in feeling frustrated and angry about it."

He continues: "I wanted to state that it’s time to take a stand against it and the only real way I knew how to do that was through song as that’s sorta what I do… No matter your political views, there is global frustration and it feels like people are taking more action into their own hands than ever before. We are communicating, we are standing together and we have quite frankly had enough of the sh*t-storm that floods most government bodies around the world."
