Joshua Speers in 'The Runaround' video

Joshua Speers is proving he's not just a clean-cut Americana singer-songwriter, today releasing his new song "The Runaround."

The new single, which arrives with an accompanying video, finds the singer leaning in on his grimy rock instincts (with the messy mullet to complete the picture), as he sings about getting knocked down but not staying down.

"This is a song about being led on and then let down,” he says. “Getting your hopes up and then hopes crushed. But at the same time, it’s not a sad song. Sometimes all you can do is let out a good yell and move on.”

The new track follows Speers' recent Summerland EP. Listen to that project and check out Variance's Q+A with him here.
