Almost exactly a year after suddenly releasing their song "Level of Concern" in the early months of the pandemic, twenty one pilots has returned with even bigger news.

The duo made up of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun has shared a new song called "Shy Away," accompanied by a video directed by Miles & AJ, the first preview of their all-new album Scaled and Icy, which is coming on May 21 via Fueled By Ramen.

As with much of the music created over the past year, this new album was largely written and produced by Joseph while in isolation, collaborating from across the country with Dun, who engineered the drums for the record remotely. Because of the ongoing health crisis, the pair had to ditch their normal studio sessions while crafting the new project, which is reflective of many relatable emotions, including anxiety, loneliness and doubt.
