As MARINA continues her Princess of Power Tour, named after her album of the same name, the Welsh singer turned the Orpheum into a glittering pop theatre on Sunday, opening with an extended “PRINCESS OF POWER” and neatly structuring the night into “levels” that guided the crowd from starry synths to party euphoria.

The set balanced sharp new cuts such as “BUTTERFLY,” “DIGITAL FANTASY,” “FINAL BOSS” and the luminous closer “I <3 YOU” with fan-favorite gems like “Are You Satisfied?,” “I Am Not a Robot,” “How to Be a Heartbreaker” and, of course, a triumphant “Primadonna,” making for an unforgettable experience at the storied, nearly century-old Vancouver venue.

Coco & Clair Clair warmed up the room at the start of the night, and the show’s pacing felt precise, the vocals bold and elastic, and the new-album material landed with real weight, proof that the Princess of Power era has a theatrical pulse built for rooms like the Orpheum. While MARINA still has a number of North American dates to come, it certainly played like a victory lap for a pop auteur in full command.

For those still hoping to catch MARINA on tour, she has upcoming shows in Salt Lake City, Denver, Minneapolis, Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, Pittsburgh, Nashville, Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Mexico City, among other cities.
