When a new Homestar Runner cartoon showed up back in April, fans were through the roof with excitement. But it appears that wasn't just an April Fool's gag.

After so much positive feedback, co-creator Matt Chapman has revealed the web series pioneer is eyeing a return, as early as later this year.

"When we did that April Fools update this year, way more people looked at it than we ever even imagined would have at this point," Chapman said this week on the Jeff Rubin Show podcast. "We did that thing as sort of a test to get back into doing it."

According to Chapman, the homepage is expected to get a makeover, while the current version (the one longtime fans recognize) will likely be archived into a Web "museum" for nostalgic viewing purposes.

While Chapman hesitated to provide a specific timeline, he said the show's return is mostly just dependent on a few outside factors and loose ends that need to be tied up before the re-launch.
