As expected, Arcade Fire's latest effort, Reflektor, has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, the new set sold 140,000 copies in its first week, enough to secure the top spot. While the total is enough for No. 1, it's down from the band's last record, 2010's The Suburbs, which started at No. 1 with 156,000 copies.
Meanwhile, last week's chart-topper, Katy Perry's PRISM, dropped to No. 2 this week with a modest 68% decline at 92,000 copies sold. As Billboard points out, it's the smallest second-week dip for a No. 1 debut since August, when the Civil Wars' self-titled album fell by 66% in week two. Albums debuting at the top typically see an average of 70-75% drop by the second week.
