As expected, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) dropped new music Saturday.

The gripping new track, titled "This Is America," arrived timed to the actor-musician's appearance hosting NBC's Saturday Night Live. The song is accompanied by a chilling video directed by Hiro Murai.

As the clip begins, it appears to be a rather whimsical one, as does the song itself. But strange smiles quickly turn to extreme violence as Glover pauses from peculiar dancing to shoot a man in the back of the head.

Glover eerily navigates between cheer and chaos, with one particular scene standing out. About halfway through the video, the camera veers from the ground to a balcony overhead where some kids are on their phones casually observing the events below and capturing them on their devices while wearing masks retaining their anonymity.

While the song is Glover's first since his 2016 Grammy-winning album "Awaken, My Love!", it is not technically the first official single off his upcoming album, which is expected later this year via Wolf + Rothstein/RCA Records.
