After teasing a new single earlier this week, Carly Rae Jepsen on Thursday dropped her new song "Party for One," with an accompanying set of visuals.

Directed by Bardia Zeinali, the video finds Jepsen checking into a hotel room by herself. The clip quickly begins scanning the rooms of her neighbors, many of whom are also alone in their rooms, watching TV, crying over an ex, smoking, enjoying a bubble bath with a glass of wine, dancing in their underwear—and that includes Jepsen herself.

"To me ‘Party For One’ is an anthem of what it is to celebrate time with yourself, which is a hard thing for people to really enjoy sometimes," said Jepsen of the new song, a preview of her forthcoming album, which she has confirmed is on the way in 2019 and—like "Party"—is as much about "self-love" as romantic relationships.

Not unlike Taylor Swift pre-Reputation, Jepsen has in the past been careful about her lyricism, embracing sunshine and glitter over more adult themes. But this seems to mark an evolution for the "Call Me Maybe" star, who sings about "making love to myself." And one of the other hotel guests literally has a dildo.
