As Cautious Clay teases his debut album, the singer has now released his new single "Roots," which is simply outstanding.

The massive new track arrived this past week, a preview of Clay's upcoming record, which doesn't yet have a release date. But if this new cut is an example of what to expect, he's raising the bar as he leans in on his undeniable vocals, including a velvet falsetto.

"Roots' is about having an established history with someone and coming to the often-difficult realization that things ultimately will not last because of elements in the relationship that are toxic," he says. "I tried to make that sentiment known in the first verse, 'from atoms up to comets, life is never promised, you could make me wanna lie and be dishonest.'"

He adds: "It's about wanting to put yourself out there and be emotionally vulnerable to a fault, however ultimately knowing what's best is for both people to separate and move on."
