As The Killers continue to enjoy a burst of new life over the past couple of years, the band has shared a new song called "boy."

The new track, out Friday via Island Records, follows the band's critically acclaimed album Pressure Machine, released last year. The song was written by frontman Brandon Flowers and it marks a return to the big, sweeping arena rock many fans love. They first debuted the track live last month at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid.

"boy" was actually written before the band began working on their last record, and according to Flowers, the lyrics actually led him on the path which would result in writing and recording Pressure Machine.

"This was the first song written after we had to cancel the Imploding The Mirage tour due to the pandemic," says Flowers. "I had recently moved back to Utah and started to make trips to Nephi, where I grew up. I found that the place I had wanted to get away from so desperately at 16 was now a place that I couldn’t stop returning to. I have a son approaching the age I was at that time in my life."

He continues: "With 'boy,' I want to reach out and tell myself—and my sons—to not overthink it. And to look for the 'white arrows' in their lives. For me now, white arrows are my wife, children, my songs and the stage.”
