Nashville-based artist Andrew Christopher Rutherford Royal (aka Rutherford Royal) has delivered his debut EP, simply titled Bleak.

The six-song project arrived Friday and it's an expansive palette of sounds from the South Carolina native, who draws from a long love of rock and Americana. It's a captivating listen.

Royal calls the new EP a "series of misunderstandings about love. Each track presents as a cameo which is an attempt at describing times when I have felt lost in the liminal spaces of bachelorhood or failing relationships. Though the lyrics take plenty of artistic liberties, the songs themselves are true experiences which serve as a record of my personal struggle to connect."
