As Austin City Limits Music Festival prepared to kick off its first of two weekends, Billy Idol was on hand Thursday night (Oct. 1) to headline a pre-fest late show ahead of his performance during the annual three-day event.

Rising songstress Ryn Weaver opened for Idol, running through her freshman catalog, including "Promises," "The Fool" and her breakout hit "OctaHate."

Weaver joked with the crowd before performing "OctaHate," acknowledging that some in the crowd might have been wondering, "who is this bitch?" But for those previously unfamiliar, she delivered a stellar introduction, further enforcing her status as one of the year's most promising acts.

As for Idol, he took the stage and quickly proved he's still a great musical force, with many in the crowd promptly noting his fiery performance. And rightly so, because at 50 years old, the British rocker is truly a commanding presence.
