Stephen Colbert broke his small screen hiatus Wednesday by hilariously hosting Michigan public television program, Only in Monroe, which featured guest Eminem.

It had some familiar elements from The Colbert Report but also appeared less scripted and rather homemade. And with Eminem in the hot seat, it definitely gets a little awkward.

Colbert refers to the rapper by his birth name, Marshall Mathers, and suggests to viewers he's starting to make a name for himself. He also presses him to see if he sees this as "more of a hobby" or as a career, suggesting he have a fallback plan for retirement. "This is an older man talking to a younger man," he says. "You just have to make plans for when the dream dies."
