First HBO crushes souls with the delay of the True Detective season 2 casting announcement; now, more not-so-wonderful news for fans.
According to HBO programming director Michael Lombardo, the second season won't premiere until next summer. That's a much later start date compared to the first edition, which began its run in January of this year.
Of course, the timeline shouldn't be much of a surprise, as shooting isn't expected to begin until next month.
Lombardo also reaffirmed much of what had previously been reported: "There are three cops. One of the characters is female. I think that’s probably all I’m allowed to say," he said, adding that "the writing is better than last season. It’s exceptional."
Thus far, Vince Vaughn has been reportedly in talks to star as a villain next season, while Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch have also been said to be in discussion for lead roles. Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss is rumored to be in consideration for the female lead.
