Ackquille Pollard (aka Bobby Shmurda) has accepted a plea deal to serve seven years in prison for murder conspiracy charges.
TMZ first reported Friday the 22-year-old rapper and two co-defendants, Chad "Rowdy Rebel" Marshall and Nicholas McCoy, have taken the deal negotiated through their lawyers, rather than face trial, for which a jury selection was set to begin on Monday.
As we previously reported, Shmurda had been arrested back in December 2014 on charges ranging from conspiracy of second degree murder and attempted murder to second degree criminal weapons possession.
According to Billboard, Shmurda plea bargain assures him a maximum of seven years behind bars, with credit for the nearly two years he has already served.
In a statement to Fader, Shmurda's lawyer Alex Spiro said their anticipation is that the rapper might only face an additional three and a half years in prison, at which point he could then "resume his remarkable career."
The official sentencing is set for Oct. 19.
