If you're a fan of Maya Rudolph like we are, this should come as a welcome surprise: The Saturday Night Live alumna is getting her own variety show.
After her Up All Night comedy didn't return to NBC, Rudolph began turning down sitcom offers because she really wanted to do a variety show. According to Deadline, it's finally happening.
Lorne Michaels (executive producer of SNL, Up All Night) is working with the comedienne to produce a pilot special which will run after the Winter Olympics (also on NBC).
Aside from the Rudolph project, it's shaping up to be a busy winter for Michaels, who will take over as executive producer of The Tonight Show when Jimmy Fallon transitions in and SNL head writer Seth Meyers takes over as host of Late Night, also executive produced by Michaels.
